Director of Strategic Partnerships 

The Ruth Cheatham Foundation (TRCF) is a Dallas-based nonprofit organization that provides financial support for teen cancer survivors in their pursuit of higher education. Many young survivors find themselves facing unfair limitations to an already uncertain future; TRCF paves the way for survivors to follow their dreams and thrive, not just survive.  

The Director of Strategic Partnerships reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is a member of the  TRCF senior management team. The Director of Strategic Partnerships will play a vital role in the growth and success of the organization, utilizing proactive, strategic thinking to identify new opportunities; with a focus on relationship building, communication,  driving revenue and expanding the organization’s reach . This role will be responsible for the engagement of all external stakeholders such as nonprofit partners, grant partners, donors, volunteers, corporate partners, and key stakeholders in the adolescent and young adult cancer space, expanding TRCF’s organizational impact and growth.

  • Relationship building: strong interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and internal teams

Preferred Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of executive leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, with a track record of effectively leading and scaling organizations nationally to the next stage of growth

  • Extensive fundraising, grant writing, and networking  experience at the executive level with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures

  • Technology proficiency, comfort, and confidence with various platforms, with a strong focus on the collection and leveraging of data to drive growth 

  • Experience with CRM systems for donor management, Google Drive, Airtable, and Excel 

  • Track record of effectively leading an organization with a complex array of programs with the ability to leverage strengths across program areas

  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven evaluation and expansion

  • Knowledge of and passion for the nonprofit sector. Experience working with or serving on boards is highly desired.

  • Flexibility and time management to multitask other duties as assigned

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identify, and cultivate relationships. Secure support and collaboration with external audiences, including grants partners, corporate sponsors, cause-marketing, nonprofit partners, adolescent and young adult research boards, and workplace giving to support organizational programs and initiatives

  • Create long-range engagement campaigns for all external stakeholders 

  • Develop compelling presentations, proposals, and other creative copy to support and build strategic partnerships

  • Set annual funding growth strategy to identify and execute innovative campaigns that expand and optimize supporter engagement. Collaborating with other departments to ensure the organization is effective in carrying out its mission and vision

  • Provide strategic leadership in marketing, fundraising, and advocacy efforts

  • Organize and attend events to engage stakeholders and attend funder meetings with and without the Executive Director; make compelling asks of funder partners and prospects

  • Build and maintain strong relationships through integrity to stewardship principles with industry partners, serving as the primary point of contact and liaison between the organization and external stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking, impact reporting, and evaluating the effectiveness of partnerships

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Remote with occasional travel to Dallas / Ft Worth Metroplex.  Ability to travel (by car and/or airplane) when required (less than 10%)

Work Schedule:

  • M-F 40 hours/week, with some occasional evenings and weekends.
